18,000 L Fuel Tanker Truck with Five Compartments

This single-unit fuel tanker carries 18,000 litres in five independent compartments — 3,000 / 5,000 / 4,000 / 3,000 / 3,000 L — on a SHACMAN F3000 6×4 chassis. Each compartment has its own top hatch and a French-type bottom discharge valve, so one truck can deliver several fuel grades, or supply several customers, on a single run.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Why a five-compartment 18,000 L tanker

One chassis, one driver, several grades of fuel — without sending three trucks down the same road.

Multi-grade delivery in one trip

Five isolated compartments let a single vehicle carry petrol, diesel and kerosene — or supply five separate stations — on the same route. Each compartment is filled and discharged on its own, so grades never mix.

Right-sized for urban and regional routes

18,000 L on a 6×4 rigid chassis stays inside the length and axle-load envelope that fuel depots, city stations and mine or plant refuelling points are built around — no articulation required to turn or reverse.

Split for uneven demand

The 5,000 L centre compartment carries the highest-volume grade, while three 3,000 L compartments and one 4,000 L compartment absorb the slower movers. Topping up a single grade means loading only that compartment.

Compartment layout: 3,000 / 5,000 / 4,000 / 3,000 / 3,000 L

Total nominal capacity 18,000 L (approximately 4,755 US gallons). Capacities are nominal and are confirmed on the build sheet for each order.

Each compartment is a separate pressure boundary with its own hatch, bottom valve and drain point, so a compartment can be filled, carried and discharged without opening or contaminating the others.

French-type bottom discharge valve

The valve that sets the unloading speed, the residual fuel left in the tank, and how safe the vehicle is at the delivery point.

What it is

A French-pattern bottom discharge valve sits directly under each compartment sump, inside the tank shell, and discharges through a short drop pipe into the delivery hose manifold. It is the layout most fuel distributors in Francophone Africa and other markets following French tanker practice expect to find on a delivery vehicle.

Because the outlet is at the lowest point of the compartment, the tank drains almost completely under gravity, and the crew works at ground level with a short hose run rather than climbing to a top outlet.

What it means on the route

  • Faster discharge — wide-bore outlet and short pipe run keep flow rates high, cutting time at each station.
  • Low residual fuel — bottom outlet drains down to the sump, so less product is left behind at the end of a shift.
  • Cleaner segregation — one valve per compartment; each outlet can be coupled to a separate hose without mixing grades.
  • Ground-level operation — the operator does not stand on the tank top while product is moving.

Built for daily depot work

The details that decide whether a tanker is still earning after five years of loading and unloading, twice a day.

Loading and unloading routine

Five hatches on a continuous walkway mean the operator fills compartment by compartment without stepping off the tank top or reaching across open hatches. Unloading happens at ground level through the bottom valves.

Load stability

Internal baffles divide each compartment so fuel movement under braking and cornering is contained, keeping the centre of gravity predictable on a part-loaded vehicle.

Chassis protection

Side underrun bars and a rear bumper protect the tank ends, the pipework and the valve bodies in depot yards, where most tanker damage actually happens.

Equipment storage on board

Lockable lockers between the axles hold hoses, couplings, spill kit and tools — equipment that otherwise ends up loose in the cab or left behind at the depot.

Service access

Valve bodies sit under the tank with clear access from the side, so a seal or valve can be serviced without dropping the tank body.

Repaint and rebrand

The shell is finished for signage: fleet colour, compartment capacity markings and operator logos are applied at build, not as an afterthought on arrival.
